Exercise 1: Overview of Lung U/S assessment

  • Understand the relevance of Lung Ultrasound (LUS) in the context of COVID-19 pandemic
  • Understand the basics of the standard workflow and recognize the anatomical landmarks and LUS stations
  • Perform an entirely guided LUS assessment

Exercise 2: Lung U/S fundamentals

  • Navigate through 14 stations without guidance
  • Understand approaching gestures and fine-tune maneuvers of the ultrasound image
  • Integrate duration fundamentals of the assessment

Exercise 3: Free Assessment

  • Locate and navigate through the 14 stations by finding anatomical landmarks without guidance
  • Setup the ultrasound system and access the stations for 10 seconds/each
  • Execute the procedure with a clean technique

Exercise 4: Image analysis

  • Understand the fundamentals and technical approach of lung ultrasond
  • Recognize normal lung ultrasound findings (pleural line and horizontal A-lines)

Exercise 5: Image recognition and scoring

  • Understand the fundamentals and technical aspects related to COVID-19 abnormal LUS findings
  • Recognize abnormal findings and classify them by severity
  • Identify normal A-lines, B-lines, consolidations, white lungs, pleural effusions, and associate scoring-related concepts to them

Exercise 6: Final assessment

  • Locate and navigate through the 14 stations by finding anatomical landmarks
  • Setup the ultrasound system
  • Recognize abnormal findings related to COVID-19 and estimate their severity
  • Set a score to each station
